Is there a school bus?

We have been advised by Transport for Greater Manchester that changes will be taking place to the Y72 service with effect from September 2019.

Due to the Yellow School Bus vehicle used on this service being too old to be used in the new academic year, TFGM will be replacing the Y72 service with a double deck school bus service along a similar line of route.

Additional YSB passes will not be required for this service in future, although all students should hold a valid igo card. There is therefore no requirement for students to apply for Yellow School Bus passes from Sale High School.

Details of the bus route will be published on the TFGM website in August.

From the start of the 2019/2020 academic year, school bus fares will increase in line with inflation.

The changes:

Fare TypeOld (£)New (£)
Child Single (IGO)1.351.40
Child Single (no IGO)1.751.80
Child return2.302.40
Child Weekly7.307.40

An IGO card costs £10 and lasts until 31st August after your 16th birthday. The card allows 11-16 year olds to travel using child tickets on buses and trams in Greater Manchester.
