We have a Connexions Adviser based in school who is able to give independent careers advice to any students who would like to talk with her. Our Adviser is Grainne McGuigan and although she has a programme of meetings with all students from year 8 to year 11 you can arrange an appointment whenever you need one. Her office is next to the decking area in front of the Maths classrooms. Grainne is on hand to help students from all year groups find the answers to a wide range of questions including local labour market information, Year 9 options choices, post 16 options, routes to university and different career paths that are open to young people.  Parents can contact Grainne if they would like any advice or would like to attend a careers interview with their son/daughter.

Grainne is in school Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and can be reached by telephoning the school or by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Work Experience

All students, at the end of Year 10, have a one-week work experience placement. This is intended to be a general introduction to the world of work, not training for a future career. Students need to find their own placement so they can find one which matches their interests as closely as possible.  Parents need to sign consent forms and help their children to find the best placement for them.
