  • To raise aspirations of our pupils.
  • To improve confidence and life skills by offering pupils extra support and a range of enrichment activities.

Language Enrichment Event for Year 8 Pupils

Language Enrichment Event for Year 8 Pupils (Manchester Metropolitan University)

Lanugaues Event at MMU

Wednesday 11 January;  Mr George and Miss Wharton took 25 students to Manchester Metropolitan University along with 3 other schools  for a Languages Enrichment event.

The aim was to promote language learning as well as choosing less commonly taught languages such as Arabic and Chinese. It was also an opportunity for some students to think about taking a GCSE in a language which they already know. We learnt about how a language can help you in your career and futures in the global world.

The students completed 3 workshops.

One was Chinese paper folding and FYI the Chinese invented paper! The students made a paper frog which the then raced.

The next workshop was Merengue dancing which was the highlight for me! The students were brilliant and all gave it a go.

Finally we did an Arabic workshop and learnt how to greet someone and say your name in Arabic.
