PiXL Edge is a framework for secondary schools and sixth form providers to develop and accredit in students those personal attributes essential for employability and life. At Sale High School we have launched the initiative with our Y8 Students. Students will continue with the programme throughout their school journey right through to Y11.

The scheme focusses on 5 key attributes:

  • Leadership
  • Organisation
  • Resilience
  • Initiative
  • Communication

Students must complete activity programmes each term related to the key attributes. These are then accredited through the examination board and students qualify at three levels;

  • Apprentice
  • Graduate
  • Master

Activities can take place in or out of school, be curricular or extra-curricular, but must be selected from our PiXL activities database.

The network of PiXL Edge schools allows exchange of ideas and opportunities for activities in which students develop their key attributes.

Students set their own pace and record their progress using a specially designed online secure platform.  Until now, there has been no national framework drawing together and accrediting the huge range of valuable activities which students undertake alongside their academic activities.

Here are some photographs of our Y8s completing their activities.

At Sale High School we value the links we have with our Primary Schools and engage in numerous activities with them, both in and outside of the classroom in order to enrich their curriculum, give our students experience of volunteering and acting as ambassadors for the school and to provide fun and exciting experiences for everyone involved. We currently work with a number of local schools focussing on providing on site workshop for Year 5 children. By working with year 5s Sale High School are able to give pupils a real insight into life at High School ready for them to make an informed choice during the Autumn term of year 6. Schools are typically invited to take part in 2 fun and stimulating workshops throughout the year and they then take part in our Y5 taster week in July. Taster week brings all our feeder school Y5s together for a day of learning. The children have the opportunity to see what it's like to move to different classrooms for their lessons, eat in the canteen and mix with other children from different schools. • About us

I have been the head teacher at Sale High School since 2009 and it has been wonderful to see the school go from strength to strength.  I am proud to work alongside excellent and ambitious colleagues who are passionate about providing the best learning opportunities.

We have dedicated governors, staff and parents all committed to a common goal; to meet the highest standards in everything we do. We have the joy of watching children turn into confident, thoughtful, and articulate young people with self-belief and ambition. We also pride ourselves on strong pastoral care focused on student wellbeing and happiness. Our students flourish.

We develop independent learners and regularly track individual progress. We create opportunities for students to be fully involved in school life through a wide range of extra-curricular activities. A thriving student council and exciting Ambassador programme encourage students to take on roles of responsibility from the very start of year 7 through to 11.

These initiatives enable students to be ready and equipped for life beyond school and to develop skills and talents which can be enjoyed throughout life.

Our mission is to be the school of choice within the community and to ensure all children have an outstanding education rooted in a rich and relevant curriculum, traditional values and clear expectations.

We believe our uniqueness is found in the care afforded to each child and in ensuring each individual is fully engaged, feels safe and is happy. By choosing Sale High School you are ensuring your child will become the best they can possibly be.
