Multi-Academy Trust Update

Dear Parents/carers

Please see attached the Sale High School consultation document which now incorporates frequently asked questions with responses as well as those from the process and raised within the consultation meeting on the 7th March 2017.  Our Governing Body hope that this is useful information for you and hope it covers all you wanted to ask.

The Governing Body have now received an ‘Academy Order’ and we have begun the due diligence process to help us all understand the legal and financial situation of all the schools involved. This will enable Governors to make their decision as to whether or not to join the Hamblin Education Trust.

They asked me also to share with you the following:

The Hamblin Education Trust is a small Multi Academy Trust of 2 schools moving to 4 schools potentially in September 2017 and as such, each school will be involved in forming the structures and ethos of the 4 school MAT. The Multi Academy Trust is currently emerging and so there is nothing to impose upon schools in terms of structures, curriculum, ethos etc. Head teachers and Business managers as well as chairs of governors are currently working together to discuss these matters. We all believe each school is unique, we value the strengths of each school and understand the need to preserve cultures, traditions in order to maintain the high standards in place.

You may be aware there is no funding for maintained schools and that the Local Authority has no available funding. Only Academies can access current funding streams from the DFE. Schools can no longer be a standalone Academy and so must become part of a MAT. Sale High School governing body want to access funding pots for building and premises and are ambitious to develop the school environment. This is a very strong reason for wanting to be part of a Multi Academy Trust. It is important that the school can improve the condition of the buildings for the children and to support the potential growth of the school due to increased numbers.

As Head teacher I intend to keep you informed of progress over the next term. Thank you for all your support.

Letter to parents 24.05.17

Dear Parents/Carers

Sale High School would like to convey their deepest sympathy to the friends and families of those affected by the Manchester bombings on Monday evening.

We have all been deeply moved by the events that have unfolded after this event. In response to the atrocity at the Manchester Arena, we are going to work on a project that focuses on our school community, to promote love over hate through a celebration of our diverse city and school community. This project intends to ensure that we remain united in the face of growing tensions and to give the students and staff an opportunity to pay our respects to the victims.

Please find below some links you may find useful to enable you to answer any questions you face at home.

The presentations are available to download HERE and HERE

Our Welcome to Year 10 evening will at 6-7pm on 24th November 2016

The evening will provide you with information that will help your child achieve GCSE success, as well as allowing you to meet Senior Leaders.

Junior Leadership Team

Our Junior Leadership Team (JLT) uphold the values of the school, ensuring the views, beliefs and needs of all students are addressed.  They represent the school, developing the school’s reputation across the community and promote team work whilst developing their own leadership skills and building their own self-confidence.

Year 11 Winter Exams start on 28th November

Year 11 Winter Exams start on 28th November

To give them enough time for all of our Year 11’s to revise for and succeed in the full range of subjects their revision lists will be published via Show My Homework this Friday, 4th November. All Year 11’s should then be working each night and over the weekends to revise thoroughly at home for these exams and parents and carers are asked to support and supervise them in this.  This is a key opportunity to revise topics which were studied a long time ago; to find out which revision techniques and time commitments are most effective for each child; to build students’ confidence in their own abilities and performance levels; to practice exam technique and to receive helpful feedback and guidance on how to improve further following the exams.  Please do all that you can to ensure that your child makes the best possible use of these opportunities and contact the school if you or your child have any questions.  Good luck to all of our Year 11’s and those supporting them at home!
